Trump Unloads on Fox News over Headline-Grabbing Impeachment Poll: ‘So Different Than It Used To Be’

President Donald Trump has never been shy about taking on the major networks over news that reflects badly on his administration, but his targets are usually on the left end of the political spectrum.

That generally means “fake news” outfits CNN and MSNBC.

On Thursday, however, Trump came out swinging against the cable news network that gives him more favorable coverage than the rest — by far.

After Fox News published the results of a poll on Wednesday that showed support for Trump’s impeachment growing, the president didn’t take long to lash out.

Using his favorite medium for public communications, Trump attacked Fox and some of its better-known personalities on Twitter.

“From the day I announced I was running for President, I have NEVER had a good @FoxNews Poll,” Trump wrote. “Whoever their Pollster is, they suck. But @FoxNews is also much different than it used to be in the good old days.”

He then called out Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano and news anchor Shepard Smith for special criticism.

“@FoxNews doesn’t deliver for US anymore,” Trump wrote. “It is so different than it used to be.”

According to The Hill, Fox News declined to comment on Trump’s posts.

The Western Journal reached out to Fox for comment Thursday but has not yet received a response. We will update this article if and when we do.

Now, there’s no denying the Fox News poll was bad news for Trump. And for a president who’s routinely — and unfairly — attacked by more-biased outlets, a headline like the one Fox carried had to sting:

“Fox News Poll: Record support for Trump impeachment”

But the numbers are the numbers, and the Fox report was pretty straightforward:

“A new high of 51 percent wants Trump impeached and removed from office, another 4 percent want him impeached but not removed, and 40 percent oppose impeachment altogether. In July, 42 percent favored impeachment and removal, while 5 percent said impeach but don’t remove him, and 45 percent opposed impeachment.”

The poll’s results note that it was conducted by a “bipartisan” team made up of Democratic-leaning Beacon Research and Republican-leaning Shaw & Co. Research. It was based on contacts with 1,003 registered voters.

The results break down respondents by different demographics – race, education, gender and so forth – but don’t include one crucial question: Where they get their information about the world.

It’s a pretty good bet that those 51 percent of respondents who are in favor of Trump’s impeachment – assuming that number is correct — are learning what they know about the White House from the incredibly biased, negative treatment it’s received for the past three years from the mainstream media. (Ask CNN viewers or New York Times readers, for instance, and it would be more like 99 percent.)

And even at that, only 21 percent of those polled approve of the job Congress is doing. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has an approval rating of 48 percent unfavorable to 42 percent favorable (the fact that even 42 percent view the California Democrat favorably is a dead giveaway that they’re not watching “Tucker Carlson Tonight”).

In other words, Trump has every right in the world to sound off about Fox and personalities like Smith or Napolitano, but bashing the network is off base.

The president has been through these skirmishes with Fox before over a news report he doesn’t like, and he no doubt will again.

But if it weren’t for Fox, and conservative news outlets on the internet, that 51 percent number Trump is complaining about would probably be a lot higher.

Fox is going more hard left all the time as the boys of the father who owns fox or taking over and they are total leftist. This is about global communism, and the money controls the medias of all the tyrannically run communist countries come with this information and just information lies and deceit and propaganda. Trumps numbers for impeachment are rising because that’s what they want you to believe , Just like the wanted you to believe that Hillary was going to win the election by 99% how that work out?

  • aaqwerty says:

Fox controversy = free publicity. This is a stunt to get more viewers now, they will revert back to conservative platform nearer the election

    • JDubyah says:

Fox News has never had a conservative platform. They are the only outlet that allowed conservatives to voice an opinion. There news had always been fair and free from ancillary reporting until Shep Smith went off his rocker. A few years ago both he and Judge Napolitano were giving good reports – accurate and concise without personal preference showing, but now they are completely nutso! Both of them. The judge is stating things that he would never have said before and they are sooo ridiculous that a first grader can see it’s wrong. But Shep Smith is trying to get a job on MSNBC or CNN, his non-reports are so biased that the color even turns blue.

I’ve turned Fox News Off … I do not listen to ANY news that comes across the T.V….I turn the channel or I turn it off…I get my news from the internet sources that have proven to me to be the most credible in the past…PERIOD…So the likes of CNN/NBC/ABC and others are talking to the air….they are pushing hot air any way….maybe they are the reason for the increase of so called “Climate Change” they are always reporting….so they should STOP immediately.

Fox become the top rated news and commentary outlet In America for a reason. They will lose that status as they turn left. So sad.

  • Helen S. Higgason says:

Well Folks……anyone that fires Fox News should explain why, exactly, I certainly would like to know their reason, has Fox News gone down hill, lately? Something must have happened, no doubt! We, the people certainly would love to know!

I would add Tucker and Laura to that list…most others I really could not care less. Shep Smith is by far the most left leaning, always has been, and Juan Williams is the most outspoken liberal guest commentator…His performance on The Five is atrocious…pure liberal hogwash flows steadily from his face, and his facial expressions are obnoxious…Fox did themselves no favor by bringing on Donna Brazille, and it would not surprise me if she is there specifically to shake things up and assist in realigning their programming to a more liberal format…That surprises me from a business standpoint since Fox is the most popular news station on cable/satellite…

What about tucker Carlson and waters?

  • Ruth Bosic says:

I was never poled and everyone I talked to said they were not ether! So who in the heck are you calling? Be fair please.

    • Phil Osborne says:

They only polled just over 1000 people…what they don’t say is how many democrats vs republicans did they poll? They also cite two different polling agencies, one leaning left and one leaning right. My gut guess is the right leaning received the short end of that stick… I read that 80 percent polled were democrats and 15 percent were republicans. I can not cite where I read that, wish I could remember…

  • SJ says:

Those of us that can see this no longer get our news from cable anyway. Trump speaks the brutal truth. I would rather have the truth delivered brutally than a beautifully, eloquently told lie.

  • Richard M Sanderson says:

Facts are facts and the truth does hurt sometimes. Comments made by news outlets are generally very true and the occasional (rare) mistake is acknowledged. Trump’s use of the term “fake news” is unfair, he just does not like any comment critical of him. He can not accept neither criticism nor responsibility for his own actions.

    • Karen K says:

Until EVERYBODY is polled just a handful of people doesn’t count for all of America. I will not believe a poll until EVERY American is polled. And besides you can take a poll and make the numbers go however you want them to go. Trump’s use of the term “fake news” is right on. The demonrats have been against him ever since the day before his inauguration. He doesn’t accept it because it’s nothing but BS.

Everybody is pretty much sure that Fox News has changed greatly since Disney got involved. It’s going the way of CNN and the other crappy news shows. Very disappointing. There are only a few shows left, Gutfeld being one, that we watch anymore due to them bringing on more liberals and changing the whole tone of the shows.

  • Ken Hecker says:

During his event today in Lake Charles, LA, the President paid tribute to many Fox News (and Business) personnel, including Varney, Hannity, Ingraham, Maria B., Judge Janine, Fox and Friends, Lou Dobbs, and Watters. Missing was Shep Smith, who resigned today.

Donald Trump has his faults, but he’s done more for our country since Eisenhower, and Ike beat the Germans.
